Schedule of Regular Mass

The Sacrament of the Eucharist is celebrated every day.

HistoriaA Solemn Mass is celebrated every Saturday of the year, with the praying of the Holy Rosary, a sung Salve and a Responsory for deceased members of the Brotherhood.

On the first Friday of each month there is a Holy Mass in honour of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Sentencia, except when this coincides with other acts of worship established in the Rules. On these days, there is a Besamanos (the image of the sacred titular figure is displayed for its hands to be kissed by the faithful).

The second of January is the feast day of Saint Basil the Great, and Holy Mass is held in his honour.
El día veintidós de febrero, festividad de la Cátedra de San Pedro, se celebra la Sagrada Eucaristía.

The twenty second of February is the Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter, and a special Mass is celebrated.

In Lent solemn five-day devotions are held in honour of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Sentencia. They end on the second Sunday in Lent, with a High Mass. Everyday there is a Besapiés (the image of El Señor de la Sentencia is displayed for its feet to be kissed by the faithful).

In Lent there is also a solemn seven-day devotion in honour of the Sorrow of Nuestra Excelsa Madre y Señora María Santísima de la Esperanza Macarena. It ends with a High Mass on the fourth Sunday in Lent.

On the thirty first of May there is a High Mass in Commemoration of the Canonical Coronation of María Santísima de la Esperanza Macarena and the Dedication of Her Basilica. This culminates the acts which the Brotherhood dedicates to the Holy Virgin during the month of May, together with the daily praying of the Holy Rosary throughout the month.

HistoriaThe twenty ninth of June is the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, and a special Mass is celebrated.

On the fourteenth of September, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a Mass is celebrated in honour of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Sentencia.
The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, and this is prayed every day. On the seventh of October, the Feast of Nuestra Señora del Santo Rosario, the Brotherhood celebrates a Solemn Mass in Her honour. On the same day, there is a Besamanos (the image of La Santísima Virgen del Rosario is displayed for its hands to be kissed by the faithful).

On the twelfth of October Holy Mass is celebrated in honour of the different advocations under which the Holy Virgin Mary, as a Patron Saint, is venerated in Spain and Latin America.

In the same month, coinciding with the Circular Jubilee of the 40 Hours, there is a Solemn Triduum in honour of La Santísima Virgen del Santo Rosario.

On the Sunday following the completion of the Triduum the Brotherhood celebrates a Solemn Institutional High Mass with Profession of Faith.

On the fifth of November, the liturgical feast of Saint Angela de la Cruz, the Brotherhood celebrates a Solemn Mass in her honour as an act of gratitude and a permanent acknowledgement of the Company of Las Hermanas de la Cruz as the spiritual instigators of the Canonical Coronation.

HistoriaOn the third Friday in November the Brotherhood celebrates a Holy Mass of suffrage for the souls of its deceased members.

Coinciding with the eighteenth of December, the day on which the Church instituted the liturgical Feast of the Expectation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Brotherhood celebrates the Feast of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, endowing it with all the solemnity that has always been encouraged by Church tradition and Marian devotion. To this end a Solemn Mass is held in honour of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, and the corresponding liturgical Mass is celebrated for the Feast of the Expectation. Since 1925, there has also been a Besamanos (handkissing) in Her honour on the same day.

The Brotherhood celebrates Holy Mass on each anniversary of the beginning of the H.H. the Pope’s pontificate.

External activities

Historiahe main external activity organized by the Brotherhood is its annual Procession to the Holy Metropolitan and Patriarchal Cathedral of Seville in the Madrugada (early morning) of Good Friday, with its titular images of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Sentencia and María Santísima de la Esperanza Macarena, as a means of meditating upon the sentencing to death of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the pain suffered by Our Mother of Hope and thereby obtaining useful insights into our own spiritual lives and achieving our desired reward of sanctification.

In the evening following its Main Institutional Mass, the Brotherhood organizes a Solemn Procession of its Glorious Titular Figure, Nuestra Señora del Santo Rosario.
